Fast-growing Welsh business network Comercity has marked its first year of trading by surpassing 50 members and making its first staff appointment, following rapid growth across South Wales and beyond.

Founded by commercial banking specialist Jonathan Cave, Comercity was established to challenge what it describes as “transactional networking”.

Over the past 12 months, the network has attracted organisations from a wide range of sectors, including professional services, manufacturing, technology and legal, positioning itself as a disruptor in the local business networking market.

To support rising demand and continued growth, Comercity has appointed Alice Coleman as Associate Director.

The business said the appointment will strengthen operational capacity and help drive engagement across its expanding membership base.

The network has also formed partnerships with communications agency TMPR, branding firm Never Still and customer experience specialists Insight6 as it develops its profile and broadens the support it offers to members.

Comercity said it has already facilitated significant commercial activity within its membership during its first year.

South Wales-based Suremark has secured strategic partnerships with South Wales Safety, Electrotech Electrical Engineering and the Blitzer Group through connections made within the network, alongside rapid growth in its social media presence.

Lee Ramsay, Director at Suremark, said: “Comercity has opened doors we wouldn’t have accessed alone. Unlike other groups where the focus can feel forced, this community has directly supported our visibility.

“The introductions we’ve received have created tangible commercial value and genuine new routes to market for us.”

Founder Jonathan Cave said: “Reaching more than 50 members in our first year highlights how many businesses across Wales are looking for meaningful connections rather than transactional networking.

“The appointment of our first team member marks an important step in strengthening the support we can provide as Comercity continues to grow.”
