Swansea-based WAM Engineering Services has relocated to a new 5,000 sq. ft headquarters at Tower Court on The Enterprise Park, following a period of rapid growth since the company was founded just three years ago.
The business, which specialises in the repair, installation, and servicing of commercial catering equipment and refrigeration, was launched in 2022 by former Royal Navy Weapons Engineer, Alistair Green.
What began as a one-man operation run from a spare room has developed into a thriving enterprise employing eight people and operating a fleet of five vans.
The move to larger premises reflects growing demand for WAM’s services across Wales, the South West, and the wider UK.
It also provides space for workshops, offices, a demonstration kitchen, and room for future recruitment as the company positions itself as one of the leading catering and refrigeration engineering firms in the region.
As part of its expansion, WAM has diversified its offering with the launch of a portable trailer fridge and freezer rental service, which proved popular over the summer months.
This addition is seen as a key step in strengthening the company’s ability to meet client needs across multiple sectors.
Financial growth has matched operational expansion. In its first year of trading, WAM posted a turnover of £54,000.
Today, the business is approaching £750,000, supported by strong client relationships and contracts with well-known names including Murco fuel stations, Domino’s Pizza sites, and Valiant pubs, alongside a growing portfolio of independent hospitality venues.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, founder Alistair Green, 35, said: “From starting WAM in my spare room to now operating out of a 5,000 sq. ft. headquarters, the journey has been incredible.
“The growth we’ve experienced is thanks to the hard work of our team and the trust our clients have placed in us. We’re proud to have built a reputation for reliability and expertise, and the new premises give us the space to continue that growth.”
He added: “We’ve doubled our workforce in the last two years, increased our fleet, and introduced a new service that is already proving a success. The move to The Enterprise Park means we can better support our customers across Wales and beyond, while creating further opportunities for expansion.”
Green credits his naval background as a driving force behind the company’s ethos. Having served nine years on prestigious ships including HMS Ark Royal, HMS Westminster, HMS Iron Duke, and HMS Dragon, he brings discipline, technical expertise, and a focus on excellence to the business.
