Social media sensation and train enthusiast Francis Bourgeois is set to attend Wales’ first Public Transport Summit later this month, bringing his unique blend of enthusiasm and digital influence to the event.

The summit, taking place on 22 and 23 May at Wrexham University, will gather transport leaders from across the sector to discuss and shape the future of public transport in Wales. The goal is to build a modern, efficient, and sustainable transport network through collaboration and innovation.

Known for his upbeat and heart-warming trainspotting videos, Francis Bourgeois has become a beloved figure online, earning a dedicated following for his genuine passion and charismatic presence. His attendance at the summit is seen as a valuable opportunity to engage the public and promote positive changes in the transport sector.

Lewis Brencher, Communications and Customer Director at Transport for Wales (TfW), expressed his enthusiasm for Bourgeois’ participation: “It’s great to be hosting Francis Bourgeois at our Public Transport Summit as it gives us a unique chance to showcase our new trains and buses while encouraging more people to use them.

TfW, says they have worked hard to enhance the customer experience on public transport, including an £800 million investment in new trains across the Wales and Borders network, the addition of modern, electrified buses to the TrawsCymru network, and a billion-pound investment in the South Wales Metro. We’re seeing more people using our public transport services, and we want to keep building on that momentum.”

The summit will also provide a platform to discuss the latest advancements in public transport, including the introduction of modern electric buses and innovative rail services, as TfW continues its mission to modernize the transport infrastructure throughout Wales.
