Google recently carried out a research project to discover the current challenges Small and Medium Enterprises in Wales are facing, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) the solution to many of the findings.
Research revealed in the past year that over half of the country’s SME owners haven’t had time to focus on innovation ideas despite believing it would be key to achieving significant revenue growth.
Research agency Public First found that SME productivity can increase to 20% with the use of AI tools such as Gemini and Google Workspace.
This essentially saves SME’s one day of work out of the week, allowing owners time to focus on their innovation and build growth within the business.
To encourage owners to embrace this development, Google is partnering with the Department for Business and Trade and launching a nationwide tour with a stop in Cardiff on the 13th November.
This an opportunity for Welsh business owners to upskill themselves regarding AI and increase business performance.
Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Business and Trade, issued a statement on the Google partnership:
“AI is transforming the way we work, and this partnership with Google will give small businesses vital hands-on experience of how to capitalise on the many benefits of AI to innovate, grow, and compete on the global stage.
“AI transformation is a crucial part of our mission to kickstart economic growth, which is why our Plan for Small Businesses is supporting SMEs across the UK to adopt new digital technologies.”
