Principality Building Society has announced that its Future Generations Fund has now awarded more than £2 million in grants to projects supporting young people and communities across Wales.

The fund, run in partnership with Community Foundation Wales, was set up to create long-term impact by backing initiatives that empower people under 25. Grants have supported projects in areas including mental health, financial education, skills training and sustainability.

A new £500,000 round of funding is now open, with up to 20 community groups set to receive grants of up to £20,000 per year for two years. Eligible organisations include charities, CICs, social enterprises and constituted groups operating in Wales or near the Welsh border.

Funding priorities include training and employability, mental health and wellbeing, financial resilience, environmental sustainability and life-skills workshops such as budgeting and nutrition. Priority will be given to organisations working with vulnerable or underserved groups, including people from protected characteristic backgrounds and those in deprived areas.

Alongside the main scheme, Principality has launched a new £100,000 Retrofit for the Future Fund to promote energy efficiency. The fund offers larger grants of up to £25,000 annually for environmentally focused projects.

Applications for both funding streams close at 12pm on Monday 6 October.

The Future Generations Fund aligns with the goals of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, which promotes long-term, collaborative approaches to tackling issues such as poverty, health inequality and climate change.

Full details and application guidance are available on the Future Generations Fund webpage.
