Cardiff-based EV infrastructure operator PLUG Charging has acquired the UK and Ireland charge point estate of Wattif EV AS, adding 350 charge points to its network and significantly expanding its footprint across both markets.
The portfolio includes sites at train stations, NHS and health board locations, holiday parks, retail parks, hospitality venues and hotels.
The mix of transport hubs and destination venues is expected to strengthen PLUG’s presence in both urban and regional settings, supporting everyday charging and longer-stay use.
The newly acquired charge points will be integrated into PLUG’s operational platform, bringing them under its management and monitoring systems.
The company said this will include 24/7 driver support, remote diagnostics, proactive fault monitoring and access to its driver app, with the aim of improving uptime and consistency across the estate.
Founded in Cardiff, PLUG partners with local authorities, public sector bodies and commercial landlords to install and operate EV charging infrastructure.
The business has focused on long-term asset management and performance optimisation as the EV market scales.
Jarrad Morris, Founder and CEO of PLUG Charging, said: “This acquisition marks a significant milestone for PLUG and accelerates our growth across both the UK and Ireland.
“It strengthens our network with a high-quality portfolio of assets in locations where charging reliability and user experience genuinely matter.
“From transport hubs and healthcare settings to retail, leisure and hospitality destinations, these charge points serve a wide range of drivers every day.
“By bringing them into PLUG, we are raising the operational standard – improving uptime, enhancing support and delivering a more seamless experience through our driver app and support services.
“As the EV market matures, success will be defined by trust, performance and long-term stewardship of infrastructure.
“This transaction reinforces our ambition to be the operator of choice for organisations looking for a dependable, future-proof charging partner.”
Andreas Strand, CEO of Wattif EV AS said: “We are pleased to be transferring our UK and Ireland charge point estate to PLUG Charging, a business that has demonstrated strong operational capability and a clear commitment to driver experience and asset performance.
“PLUG’s focus on reliability, proactive management and long-term stewardship aligns well with the standards we set for these sites.
“We are confident that site partners and drivers will benefit from the transition and from PLUG’s investment in service quality and network performance.”
The deal forms part of PLUG’s wider investment programme across Wales, the UK and Ireland, with a focus on public sector delivery, destination charging and fleet electrification.
