Phillips Wellbeing co-founder Wayne Phillips took on the London Marathon this weekend, raising funds for Velindre Cancer Centre, a charity he has supported for more than a decade.
Phillips, who co-founded Phillips Wellbeing, joined thousands of runners tackling the 26.2-mile course, combining a personal endurance challenge with a long-standing commitment to supporting cancer research, treatment and patient care in Wales.
Velindre Cancer Centre is widely recognised for its pioneering work in research and development, including treatments aimed at preventing the spread of aggressive cancers.
Its ongoing efforts continue to provide hope for patients and families navigating a cancer diagnosis, making it a significant focus for fundraising within the Welsh business and charitable communities.
Speaking ahead of the event, Wayne Phillips said: ““I’ve been proud to support [Velindre] as an ambassador for many years and have seen first-hand the incredible impact their work has on people’s lives.
“At 49, I’m under no illusions about the challenge ahead. Running 26.2 miles around London is no small task, and I’m sure there will be moments where I question the decision.
“But it will all be worth it if it helps raise funds for such an important cause.
“Velindre represents hope for so many people going through cancer and I’m honoured to play a small part in supporting that. Any donations, no matter how small, will make a real difference.”
The organisation provides professional counselling and emotional support to individuals and families dealing with complex life experiences, including illness and bereavement—areas closely connected to the realities faced by cancer patients.
Tracy Phillips, co-founder of Phillips Wellbeing, said: “We are incredibly proud of Wayne for taking on this challenge in support of Velindre.
“It reflects everything we stand for as an organisation, supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments, both emotionally and practically.
“Fundraising for causes like Velindre is so important, as it helps ensure people continue to receive not only world-class treatment, but also the care and compassion they need throughout their journey.”
