Ogi invest in connectivity to unlock growth at Pembrokeshire Innovation Centre

Welsh broadband provider Ogi has installed a new full fibre network at the Bridge Innovation Centre in Pembroke Dock, in a move aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure for local businesses.

The upgrade replaces an ageing legacy connection with a dedicated, business-grade full fibre network, providing increased capacity and reliability for companies based at the site.

A high-capacity symmetric core connection now serves the building, supported by a secondary fibre route to improve resilience.

Full fibre connectivity has also been extended throughout the centre, enabling each office to access its own dedicated connection.

This allows tenants to scale broadband speeds as they grow without requiring additional installation work, addressing a common challenge for start-ups and expanding firms.

“Digital infrastructure shouldn’t be something businesses have to worry about,” said Ogi’s Chief Executive Officer, Sally-Anne Skinner.

“It needs to be dependable, flexible and ready to grow when they are. That’s exactly what we’ve put in place here.”

The network includes managed firewall protection, traffic management and continuous monitoring, alongside battery backup systems designed to maintain service during power outages.

Shared spaces across the building have also been upgraded with high-performance WiFi to support day-to-day operations, events and collaborative working.

The project supports Pembrokeshire County Council’s wider ambition to create an environment where businesses can grow and remain in the region.

“What businesses tell us they value most is confidence,” said Peter Lord, the council’s Principal Officer for Business Development.

“They want to know the infrastructure around them won’t limit their plans – and this investment gives them that reassurance.”

The investment is intended to help position Pembrokeshire as a competitive location for business growth, ensuring companies have the digital capacity to scale locally.

“When the right infrastructure is already in place, it makes staying and growing locally a much easier decision,” added Sally-Anne.

“That’s how you support long-term economic growth – by giving businesses what they need from day one.”
