NFU Cymru opens nominations for Sustainable Agriculture Award 2026

The NFU Cymru/Wynnstay Group PLC Sustainable Agriculture Award has opened for nominations, with the 2026 winner set to be announced at the union’s Sustainable Farming Conference on 30^th June.

The event will take place at Pant Farm near Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, hosted by NFU Cymru Rural Affairs Board Chair Gary Yeomans. Judging will be carried out by Yeomans and Wynnstay’s Bryn Hughes.

This will be the sixth editions of the awards as it recognises the contribution of Welsh farming enterprises to the environmental, economic and cultural well-being of Wales.

Entries close on 25 May 2026, with shortlisted candidates to be interviewed on-farm by the judging panel in late May and early June.

Applicants will be assessed on a criteria that covers three important factors including their ability to demonstrate high-quality food production, contribution to maintenance and enhancement of farmland, as well as involvement and contribution to the local, rural economy and community.

The prize up for grabs will be £500 and a commemorative accolade for the winner.

People across Wales are encouraged to nominate applicants who they believe possesses the qualities that the judging criteria outlines. Farms and farmers are also able to nominate themselves.
