A new Regional Director at the Welsh Procurement Alliance (WPA) has pledged to create more opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses in Wales as the organisation strengthens its leadership team.
Elizabeth Jones has been appointed regional director for WPA, one of five regional business units operated by public sector procurement specialist LHC Procurement Group (LHCPG).
At the same time, Nicola Stewart has taken on the role of Regional Director for the South West Procurement Alliance (SWPA), while Jon Durant and Giorgio Burani have joined the group’s leadership team at its headquarters in Uxbridge.
Jones brings more than 25 years of experience in the public sector and housing and joins WPA at a time when public procurement in Wales is undergoing reform and placing increased emphasis on social value.
Over the past four years, she has worked as a consultant advising the Welsh Government and supply chain partners on decarbonising asset management, gaining insight into the challenges faced by the sector.
In her new role, Jones will work to connect public sector organisations, including local authorities and charities, with suppliers to deliver projects across the built environment while ensuring value for money and wider community benefits.
“I want to help public bodies buy well, create clear routes for Welsh SMEs onto WPA frameworks and build social value into everyday delivery,” said Liz.
“As a team we will continue to listen to local priorities, support energy efficiency for the people of Wales, and partner with principal contractors to mentor smaller firms.
“This will ensure more organisations can deliver projects on time and within budget.”
