Businesses in Monmouthshire affected by Storm Claudia are set to receive further financial assistance, after the Welsh Government confirmed an additional round of support grants worth up to £3,000.
The new funding will be allocated to Monmouthshire County Council to help local firms recover from the severe flooding and disruption caused by the storm, which triggered a major incident and significant damage across the region.
This latest package follows more than £2.5 million already released by the Welsh Government in response to the extreme weather event.
Rebecca Evans, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, said: “Storm Claudia has had a devastating impact on businesses in Monmouth.
“This additional funding will provide practical support to help affected businesses recover.
“We are committed to standing with Monmouthshire’s business community during this difficult time and we will continue to work closely with Monmouthshire County Council to ensure help reaches those who need it most.”
The initial support package, announced last week, included payments of £500 and £1,000 for homes damaged by flooding, funding for emergency response efforts such as evacuations and waste removal, and discretionary council tax and non-domestic rates relief for affected households and businesses.
Businesses seeking assistance, along with residents needing advice on flood support, can find more information on Monmouthshire County Council’s website.
