New campaign launched to Boost careers in Wales’ food and drink sector

A new national campaign has been launched to highlight the diverse career opportunities available in Wales’ food and drink industry and to challenge outdated perceptions about working in the sector.
The initiative, part of the Sgiliau Bwyd a Diod Cymru / Food & Drink Skills Wales programme, is funded by the Welsh Government and aims to build a skilled, future-ready workforce for one of Wales’ most vital industries. It focuses primarily on supporting businesses in the food and drink processing and manufacturing sectors, helping ensure employees have the right training and skills to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
Operating across all areas of the Welsh food and drink supply chain, the programme encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing among employees. It is designed to boost confidence, increase workplace adaptability, and promote a culture where employees feel valued and supported as they navigate technical, business, and environmental challenges.
As part of the awareness drive, a new online Jobs Noticeboard has been launched, showcasing current vacancies across the food and drink sector in Wales. The platform aims to connect job seekers with a wide range of roles, from production and logistics to quality control, marketing, and management.
The campaign reflects growing recognition of the sector’s importance to Wales’ economy and its role in sustainable growth. It also responds to skills shortages and the need to attract new talent into food production and manufacturing.
With the Welsh food and drink industry contributing significantly to both domestic and export markets, the programme aims to ensure the workforce is prepared for future demands and opportunities.
