More than 1 in 5 jobs advertised in Cardiff were remote or hybrid in 2025

More than one in five job postings in Cardiff in 2025 offered remote or hybrid working, according to new data from hiring platform Indeed.
Indeed’s analysis shows that 21.1% of Cardiff job listings last year described roles as either remote or hybrid, a slight increase on 2024 levels.
The figures suggest that while some employers are tightening attendance requirements, flexible working remains a significant feature of the local labour market.
Since the pandemic-driven surge in home working, many organisations have moved toward more structured hybrid arrangements.
By August 2025, 85% of UK job postings required at least two days per week in the office, up from 65% in 2022, indicating a steady pullback from fully remote models.
Against that backdrop, Cardiff’s marginal growth in flexible job listings points to a more stable settlement between employers and candidates in the region.
Recruitment specialists say flexibility continues to influence both retention and hiring outcomes, particularly for candidates balancing caring responsibilities or seeking improved work–life balance.
Indeed’s wider workforce data indicates that one in five UK employees reported workplace stress linked to a lack of flexibility around time or location in 2025.
More than a quarter said they would consider changing jobs to secure more flexible hours (27%) or better work–life balance (26%), underlining the potential recruitment risk for employers that row back on flexible policies.
Flexible and hybrid roles are also seen as a lever for widening participation in the labour market.
Remote access can support candidates who are less able to commute regularly and has been shown in multiple studies to be particularly valued by women and other underrepresented groups when assessing job opportunities.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 makes flexible working the default position unless an employer can demonstrate that it would be unreasonable for a specific role, increasing the pressure on businesses to justify fully office-based requirements.
Pay levels remain a key factor, and Indeed’s Cardiff data suggests that the occupations with the highest share of remote and hybrid postings sit within relatively similar salary bands.
The top three Cardiff roles by share of remote, hybrid or work-from-home listings were:
- Customer Service Representative — £25,039
- Collection Agent — £29,905
- Administrator — £25,755
Matthew Burney, Senior Strategic Advisor at Indeed, said: “In Cardiff, flexible working levels remain relatively stable, with many employers continuing to support hybrid or remote models rather than pushing a full return to the office.
“This reflects a period of adjustment, as employee expectations and forthcoming legislative changes continue to shape how work is organised.
“For employers, this presents an opportunity to be more deliberate about where flexibility sits, particularly as roles evolve or employees move into more senior positions.
“Even modest changes, such as hybrid patterns, adjusted hours, or phased workloads, can make a meaningful difference when aligned with operational needs.
“Approached proactively, flexibility becomes a lever for engagement, retention, and inclusion, helping Cardiff maintain its appeal as a city that offers adaptable work across different roles and career stages.”
