Mentera has launched a search for a new chair, as current postholder Fflur Jones prepares to step down at the end of her term in May.

The not-for-profit organisation, which supports businesses and communities across Wales, said the appointment comes at a pivotal moment as it looks to build on recent development and expand its impact.

During her tenure, Fflur Jones has overseen a period of transition and strategic progress, helping to strengthen the organisation’s foundations while guiding its evolving direction.

Jones said: “It has been a real privilege to serve as Chair of Mentera during such an important period in the organisation’s development.

“What has stood out most to me is the commitment and expertise of the people who work at Mentera, and the positive impact their work has on businesses and communities across Wales.

“The organisation is in a very strong position, and I look forward to seeing the next Chair build on this momentum.”

Mentera, formerly known as Menter a Busnes, brings more than 35 years’ experience supporting Welsh enterprises.

The organisation works across sectors including agriculture, food and drink, and the Welsh language, offering advice and support through its network, partnerships and industry links.

Chief executive Llŷr Roberts said: “This is an important opportunity for an experienced leader to join Mentera at a very exciting point on our journey.

“We have a clear ambition to support Welsh businesses to reach their full potential and to help create a prosperous and sustainable Welsh economy.

“The Chair will be central to driving that vision forward.”

Applications for the position are now open and more details are available on the Mentera website.
