M3.agency, one of the UK’s leading full-service marketing firms, has announced the opening of its first Welsh office as part of a broader national and international expansion strategy.
The new base, located on Cathedral Road in Cardiff, will be led by two well-known figures in the Welsh creative and communications industry: Jim Carpenter, former co-CEO of Orchard, and Kate Jones, a corporate communications specialist. Together, they bring over 50 years of combined experience to the agency’s growing footprint.
“There is a massive opportunity for a firm—with a Welsh footprint and understanding firmly based in Wales—to bring ‘big agency’ experience and skills to companies and organisations across the country,” said Carpenter, now co-founder of M3.agency Wales.
“Businesses don’t need to go outside now for the ‘wow’ factor and the ‘track record’,” he added.
“We will deliver new momentum, drive action and accelerate positive outcomes for clients when it comes to raising awareness, penetrating new markets and increasing return on investment.”
M3.agency, which was founded in 2000, already operates from four offices in Birmingham, London, Telford, and Bristol, and is home to a 50-strong team comprising creatives, digital specialists, strategists, and video production experts. The new Cardiff office marks the latest stage in an ambitious six-month expansion plan that includes new hubs in the North of England and the agency’s first international base.
“The plan is to take a pan-Wales approach, creating jobs and promoting growth and opportunities right across the Welsh creative and digital sector,” Carpenter said.
The company currently serves over 100 clients, with an existing portfolio that includes major brands such as MG Motor Group, Geely, and Visit Jersey. The Welsh operation aims to contribute significantly to the firm’s annual £50 million in billings, reinforcing its ambition to become one of the UK’s largest independent agency networks.
Co-founder Kate Jones said: “Jim and I are both excited at the prospect of bringing our momentum, creative direction and focus to our clients through a truly local agency that has all the backing, experience and expertise that comes with a national full-service business.”
The move into Wales has been welcomed by M3.agency CEO Nick Lovett, who sees the region as a key part of the company’s long-term growth plans.
He said: “Working with exciting businesses based in Wales has always been an ambition of ours and, like all areas, we respect the need to work on the inside to truly ‘get’ the unique local landscape,” Lovett explained.
“It is very rare to set up a new agency with two of the region’s most respected operators at the helm, so we’re ready to really accelerate our expansion plans.”
He continued: “In Jim and Kate, we have two experts that are passionate about the area they call home and have a significant bank of business and individual connections. We’ve invested in dedicated office space and are about to push the button on a recruitment drive, which will complement our existing 50-strong team of specialists who are eager to support the Welsh team in delivering the ‘M3 difference’.”
M3.agency is currently in the process of securing B Corp Certification, which will verify its commitment to high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency across areas such as employee benefits, sustainability practices, and supply chain ethics.
