Independent gelato brand GG’s has taken a significant step in its expansion plans with the acquisition of a beachside kiosk at Caswell Bay, Swansea, in a deal facilitated by RJ Chartered Surveyors.

The move marks the company’s first transition towards establishing a portfolio of owned locations, building on its existing base in Penclawdd and its growing wholesale operations across South Wales.

RJ Chartered Surveyors has been working with GG’s to identify suitable sites as part of the business’s long-term growth strategy.

The Caswell Bay kiosk was ultimately selected as the ideal location to launch this next phase, offering a high-profile coastal setting with strong footfall.

GG’s has operated its ice cream parlour in Penclawdd since 2019, developing a loyal customer base alongside supplying a range of trade clients. The Caswell acquisition represents a shift towards a more direct retail presence in prominent leisure destinations.

Toby Link-Jones, Operations Manager at GG’s, said: “We’d looked at a few potential locations across Gower over time, but when this Caswell property became available it was a no brainer.

“It’s such an iconic spot, and for what we’re building with GG’s, it just felt like the right fit.

“Once RJ Chartered Surveyors presented the opportunity to us, we knew we had to act quickly.”

The new site will offer the full GG’s Gelato range, alongside an expanded food and beverage menu designed to capture both casual visitors and beachgoers.

In addition to gelato, the kiosk will serve grab-and-go coffee, cold drinks, and a selection of hot food and snacks, including pizza prepared using a bespoke on-site oven.

For the business, the location also carries emotional and cultural significance, with Caswell Bay long regarded as a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

Link-Jones added: “Caswell definitely has a real sense of nostalgia. It’s somewhere so many people have grown up visiting, so to now have a presence there feels like a genuine full-circle moment, especially as we’re taking over the venue from another family-owned business who had operated in that location for many years.

“We want to become part of those same memories for the next generation.

“We’re always looking at opportunities to grow, but it has to be the right fit.

“Our focus is on building strong, well-run sites that really represent the brand properly, so while we are always looking, the focus over the next few months is getting this premises operating to the standard we want.”

The deal underscores continued demand for well-located hospitality sites across south Wales, particularly in coastal and leisure-driven areas where independent brands can align their offering with the setting.

James Smale-Davies, Associate Director at RJ Chartered Surveyors, said: “It has been a pleasure working alongside GG’s as they take this exciting first step into expanding their physical presence.

“Caswell is a prime coastal location, and the kiosk presented a unique opportunity for a high-quality, locally rooted brand to establish itself in a setting that aligns perfectly with its offering.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with GG’s as they explore further opportunities across South Wales and build on what is already a strong and much-loved brand.”
