Red Dragon Darts is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a nostalgic nod to its heritage and a bold look toward the future. The Bridgend-based company, which began life in a South Wales garage in 1975, has grown into a global leader in dart manufacturing and is marking the milestone with a series of limited-edition product launches and player collaborations.

The celebrations begin with the release of the 50 Year Classics, a curated set of four historic darts reissued in their original designs. Each model represents a key moment in Red Dragon’s evolution, from the Chunky Stumpy’s compact grip to the Shockwave’s iconic Rainbow Spectron finish. All four will be available in limited quantities.

“We’ve come a long way from that garage in Bridgend,” said Managing Director Vince Bluck, whose father, John Bluck, founded the business. “This campaign is a tribute to the passion and precision that built Red Dragon – honouring the past while forging ahead for the next 50 years.”

The second phase of the anniversary campaign will launch in September, featuring Limited Edition Player Darts and new shirts designed in collaboration with some of darts’ biggest stars, including Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton, Peter Wright, and Gerwyn Price. Each set has been developed at the company’s in-house design and testing lab in Bridgend.

“Every player is different, and that’s what drives us,” said Lee Huxtable, Head of Development at Red Dragon. “Whether it’s Peter Wright’s diamond-coated dart or Humphries’ short-barrel setup, we’re always working to deliver that one setup that can unlock a player’s best game.”

Huxtable has designed darts for some of the sport’s biggest names, including multiple world-title winners, and is widely regarded as one of the top minds in precision dart engineering. Red Dragon currently produces more than 30,000 sets of darts per week, with full control over the manufacturing process, design, testing, and production are all carried out under one roof to maintain strict quality standards.

The anniversary follows a significant period of growth for the company. In 2024, parent firm Nodor Inc received the King’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of its achievements in international trade. The company also secured investment from private equity firm Inflexion, supporting ambitions for further global expansion and continued innovation, including developments in smart-tech and elite player support.

Founded by two former Ford engineers, Red Dragon was the UK’s first direct-to-consumer tungsten dart brand, a move that helped democratise access to high-performance equipment. From its Bridgend base, the company now operates across the UK, Kenya, and the US, with a growing international following.

The player-first approach remains central to Red Dragon’s ethos. The company currently supports four PDC World Champions from the last five years, including reigning World No.1 Luke Humphries, a testament to both its technical excellence and its commitment to nurturing talent.

With just 1% of UK businesses reaching their 50th year, Red Dragon’s half-century stands as both a rare achievement and a reflection of sustained innovation and relevance in a highly competitive industry.

As Bluck puts it: “This campaign is not just a celebration of the past, it’s a statement of intent for the future.”
