Rupert Poole, Chief Technology Officer at leading law firm Hugh James, has been named among the finalists in the prestigious AI 100 UK List 2025, curated by Digital Leaders.
The annual list highlights individuals and organisations spearheading the ethical and impactful adoption of Artificial Intelligence across the country. Nearly 400 innovators, policymakers, business leaders and non-profit pioneers were nominated or applied to be considered this year, with only 100 making the final shortlist.
For Hugh James, the recognition comes at a pivotal moment. Over the past two years, the firm has rolled out ChatGPT Enterprise across its workforce through an alliance with OpenAI. The initiative is designed to transform the way legal teams work, streamlining processes and enhancing client services.
Reacting to the shortlisting, Poole said: “I’m truly humbled to have been nominated and selected for the Digital Leaders AI 100 UK List 2025, celebrating individuals driving responsible and impactful use of Artificial Intelligence across the UK.
Over the past two years I’ve had the privilege of leading our firm’s AI journey alongside my colleague Matthew Tossell, exploring how this technology can transform the way we work, empower our legal teams, and ultimately deliver greater value to our clients.
To now be recognised alongside such an inspiring group of AI leaders, thinkers, and pioneers is an honour. This recognition reflects the forward-looking culture that exists at Hugh James and the commitment of everyone who has embraced this journey.”
The shortlist will now go forward to a judging panel and public vote, which together will determine the official ranking for this year’s AI 100 UK List. The final announcement is set for 17 October at the House of Lords during AI Week 2025, the flagship event for UK artificial intelligence leadership.
