Hedyn acquires former Royal Mail building in Newport

A major housing association in south east Wales is consolidating its offices with the creation of a new headquarters in Newport city centre, following its recent merger.

Hedyn has confirmed it will bring together its existing Newport and Pontypool offices into a single base at the former Royal Mail building on Mill Street.

The site, located close to the M4 and directly behind Newport railway station, is expected to improve connectivity for staff working across the region.

The move comes after the 2025 merger of Melin and Newport City Homes, which created a larger organisation employing around 750 staff and managing more than 15,000 properties across south east Wales.

While the new headquarters will remain in Newport, the organisation said it will continue to maintain a strong presence across the local authority areas it serves.

Preparatory work on the building is expected to begin shortly, with staff due to relocate by summer 2028.
