A Penarth-based drinks business is marking five years of growth after turning a sustainability-led concept into an award-winning brand with a social purpose.
Grounds for Good, which upcycles used coffee grounds into spirits and liqueurs, is celebrating the milestone with industry recognition and continued expansion of its product range.
Founded in 2021 by retired consultant psychiatrist Dr Rosie Oretti, the business was established to transform waste into commercially viable products.
Since launch, it has developed a range of sustainable drinks while donating a proportion of profits to Llamau, which supports vulnerable young people, women and families at risk of homelessness.
The anniversary comes alongside recent accolades, including a silver medal at the London Spirits Competition 2026, where its Aperoffi liqueur was recognised in the bitters and mixers category.
The competition assesses entries on taste, value for money and shelf appeal.
The company has also been named a finalist in the Small Business Britain Awards 2026, shortlisted for the Net Hero Award, which recognises businesses demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
Winners are due to be announced at a ceremony in London on 21 May.
Dr Rosie Oretti said: “When we launched Grounds for Good, the aim was simple – to turn waste into something positive.
“Five years on, we’ve not only created a sustainable product range, but also built a business that supports people in real need through our partnership with Llamau.
“To receive recognition like this while staying true to that mission is incredibly rewarding.”
