A new food and drink festival celebrating Welsh produce is set to launch in Cardiff this summer, bringing together leading producers from across the country.

The Great Welsh Drinks Festival will take place at DEPOT Cardiff from July 9 to 11, showcasing a wide range of home-grown products including wine, spirits, cider and beer, alongside Welsh food and live entertainment.

The three-day event is being organised in collaboration with the Welsh Government Drinks Cluster, the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA), and DEPOT, with a focus on promoting the quality and diversity of Wales’ drinks industry.

One of the key attractions will be Indie Beer Wales, a dedicated event on the opening Thursday that will give visitors the chance to sample beers from across the country, meet producers and explore the innovation emerging from the sector.

The first day will also include a trade-focused session aimed at pubs, bars, retailers and hospitality professionals.

The session is designed to connect buyers directly with Welsh producers of beer, wine and spirits, helping to build new partnerships and strengthen supply chains within the industry.

Organisers say the event will also highlight the resilience and creativity of independent brewers, as well as the wider drinks sector.

Sara Webber, Regional Director of SIBA, said of the festival: “The Great Welsh Drinks Festival is about celebrating the incredible range and quality of drinks being produced across Wales today.”

“Wales is the only region in the UK that has a growing brewing industry – albeit very small growth, but we should be doing all we can to celebrate this achievement and support our independent brewers and drinks producers. From beer and cider to wine and spirits, Wales is producing some exceptional products, and this festival will give people the chance to discover them all in one place.”

Alongside the food and drink offering, the festival will feature a programme of live entertainment, including local bands and DJs, aimed at creating a relaxed, summer atmosphere that celebrates Welsh culture.
