Dow Schofield Watts (DSW) has added a high-profile name to its Cardiff corporate finance team with the appointment of former Wales Rugby Union and Cardiff Rugby captain Ellis Jenkins as Corporate Relations Lead.

Jenkins, who recently retired from professional rugby, spent 15 years competing at the highest level, including matches against the New Zealand All Blacks and South Africa. He also played in front of crowds of up to 75,000 at the Principality Stadium. While still playing, he completed an Executive MBA at Cardiff University, combining academic achievement with elite sport.

His new role will see him draw on his leadership experience and extensive network to support DSW Cardiff’s expansion and client service. Jenkins also brings governance experience from his eight years on the Executive Committee of the Welsh Rugby Players Association, where he was involved in key negotiations with the Welsh Rugby Union during some of the sport’s most challenging periods.

Alongside his appointment, DSW has promoted Ben Nix to Associate. Since joining the Cardiff team, Nix has worked on transactions across multiple sectors, leading buy- and sell-side deals. His recent work includes advising on Euro Commercials’ acquisition of CWC Group, creating a £150m revenue business.

Koo Aseeley, Partner in the Cardiff corporate finance team, said: “We’re excited about the continued growth of the Cardiff team. Ellis brings outstanding leadership experience, an ambitious mindset and a fantastic network from his time in elite sport. We’re looking forward to the value he’ll bring to our clients and team.

“Ben’s promotion to Associate is thoroughly well deserved. He’s been delivering exceptional results, and it’s great to see his hard work recognised. The team continues to build momentum, and we’re excited to support more clients across the UK as we grow.”

Jenkins said: “After taking time to reflect on 15 years of professional rugby and consider my next steps, I’m excited to begin a new chapter in my career with DSW Cardiff.

“I’m joining a dynamic team that is growing rapidly across Wales and the South West, and I’m confident that my experience of problem solving in high pressure sporting situations will serve me well in the fast-paced world of corporate finance.”
