Cardiff-based car rental platform Final Rentals has taken a major step in its international expansion strategy with its official launch in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya, entering the African market for the first time.

The simultaneous launch across the three countries marks a significant milestone for the digital-first mobility company, as it responds to growing demand for accessible, tech-enabled car rental services across both the business and leisure travel sectors in Southern and Eastern Africa.

Founded in Wales and now operating globally, Final Rentals offers a streamlined online booking platform and a diverse vehicle fleet designed to meet the needs of modern travellers, including cross-border capabilities and a strong selection of 4×4 vehicles suited to regional terrain.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the Final Rentals experience to Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya,” said Ammar Akhtar, Founder and CEO of Final Rentals.

“These countries represent dynamic, forward-looking markets with immense potential. Our research shows a clear need for a digitally-focused car rental service that prioritises customer experience, a diverse fleet, and cross-border travel capabilities.”

Akhtar added that the company’s tech-driven platform and focus on service quality would give it an edge in meeting the needs of both local and international travellers.

“We are confident that our seamless online platform and our fleet of well-maintained vehicles, including a strong selection of 4x4s, will meet and exceed the expectations of both local and international travelers.”

The move is the latest in a series of international expansions by Final Rentals, which has built a reputation for enabling small and medium-sized rental operators to join its platform and benefit from its global reach, digital infrastructure, and franchise model.

Its latest expansion taps into rising demand across Africa’s rapidly growing economies, where digital transformation, tourism and business travel are driving increased interest in mobility solutions that are both flexible and accessible.
