A new digital platform aimed at supporting and developing team captains in sport has officially launched. Captains Clubhouse, co-founded by experienced sports leaders Ria Burrage-Male and Vicki Sutton, is the first platform of its kind in the UK offering leadership tools, peer connections, and tailored support for captains at all levels of sport.
Built from first-hand experience, Captains Clubhouse addresses the unique pressures and responsibilities that often fall on team captains, from grassroots squads to elite professional environments. The platform delivers a suite of resources including leadership video content, guidance tools, community discussion spaces, and exclusive content all curated by captains, for captains.
“Captains are expected to lead, motivate, manage conflict and set the tone but they’re rarely given the tools or recognition to do that well,” said co-founder Vicki Sutton, former CEO of a national governing body. “We created Captains Clubhouse to fill that gap.”
What sets the platform apart, beyond its purpose, is its leadership. Captains Clubhouse is one of the few sports tech start-ups in the UK led by two female founders in a space traditionally dominated by men.
“We’re proud to be building something bold and meaningful,” said Ria Burrage-Male, also a former CEO in the sports sector. “This isn’t just a leadership tool, it’s a movement. We want captains of all ages and performance levels to have the confidence and community they deserve.”
Following a successful pilot phase with users already on board, the platform is now scaling nationwide. Captains Clubhouse is offering tailored memberships for individuals, sports clubs, schools, and organisations with branding and messaging already visible in sports venues across the UK.
