Cardiff-based fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium has secured a major contract to support the development of a new indoor arena and hotel complex in Cardiff Bay, marking a significant addition to the region’s construction pipeline.

The company will work alongside McLaren Construction on the project, which centres on a 16,500-capacity arena designed specifically for live music, alongside a 182-room hotel intended to support the venue’s operations.

Dudley’s Aluminium has been appointed to install Kawneer enhanced capped curtain wall systems and manual doors on the arena, as well as capped curtain walling and HI window systems on the hotel.

The scheme forms part of the wider regeneration of the Atlantic Wharf site and is expected to play a key role in strengthening Cardiff’s position as a major destination for live entertainment.

Designed with a focus on acoustics and sightlines, the arena aims to attract large-scale touring acts, while the adjoining hotel will provide on-site accommodation tailored to visitors attending events.

Once complete, the development is forecast to draw more than one million visitors each year and create over 1,000 jobs, delivering a significant economic boost to Cardiff and the surrounding region.

Steve Muir, Commercial Director at Dudley’s Aluminium, said: “We are excited to be teaming up with McLaren Construction to deliver both the arena and hotel aspects of this development which will transform Cardiff Bay.

“This is a significant project not just for us, but for the city.

“The arena, and its projected impact, will cement Cardiff as a city of culture and highlights the strength of the creative industries.”

Founded in 1993, Dudley’s Aluminium provides in-house design and production services and has delivered projects across a range of sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, retail, residential and defence throughout the UK and the Channel Islands.
