Rhug Estate has been recognised with two major accolades at the prestigious Wales Food and Drink Awards 2025, cementing its reputation as a leader in organic farming and sustainable practices.

The 12,500-acre estate near Corwen, Denbighshire, took home the Sustainable Values Award, while owner Lord Newborough was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the ceremony held at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.

The honours highlight decades of dedication to environmentally responsible farming, premium food production, and the estate’s continued innovation, both in the UK and internationally.

“We were thrilled to win these awards, which reflect the many years of commitment we have towards sustainable farming and providing customers with first-class products and service,” said Lord Newborough.

“Recognition is always appreciated, but what truly matters is the culture we’ve built and the values our team upholds. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and these awards reinforce that we’re having a real impact, locally and globally.”

Rhug Estate is renowned for its organic meats and growing Rhug Wild Beauty skincare range, both of which have seen strong demand in recent years. Lord Newborough confirmed the business will now invest further in digital transformation and diversification, with plans to expand distribution, particularly into London and other urban markets.

“One of our key priorities is increasing our supplier and stockist networks, especially for our meat products and the Wild Beauty range. This momentum gives us the confidence to scale further while staying true to our roots,” he said.

Sian Lloyd, broadcaster and co-founder of the Wales Food and Drink Awards, praised Rhug Estate for its pioneering work and entrepreneurial leadership.

“What stood out to the judges was Rhug’s constant innovation and pursuit of new opportunities. It’s a fantastic example of how heritage, sustainability, and business growth can go hand in hand. Lord Newborough’s passion and vision are inspiring—not just in food and drink, but for any business in Wales.”

Lord Newborough added: “If you’re doing something you truly believe in, it becomes second nature. Organic farming has to come from the heart. Staying true to who we are has allowed Rhug to become a global brand. You have to believe in what you do and be brave—and that’s a mindset we intend to carry forward for many more years.”

Rhug Estate is one of just seven businesses in Wales to hold a Royal Warrant of Appointment from His Majesty The King, recognising its exceptional standards in quality and service.
