Welsh fintech innovator Delio is celebrating a decade in business, marking ten years of digital transformation in the private markets sector. As the company reaches this significant milestone, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Gareth Lewis has reflected on the firm’s evolution and the shifting dynamics of the industry it serves.
Originally founded with a mission to enhance the client experience in private markets through digital infrastructure, Delio has matured into a leading modular operating system. Today, its platform is used by a wide range of financial institutions, including private banks, wealth managers, fund administrators, asset managers, and other service providers across the global financial ecosystem.
In a recent reflection, Lewis emphasized the company’s consistent vision and the importance of maintaining a neutral position in a competitive and evolving market.
“We’ve grown, evolved and taken some hard learnings on board, whilst staying true to the idea that remaining non-conflicted is what will ultimately enable us to become the industry utility of choice for digital transformation in alternatives.”
Delio’s platform supports institutions in offering and managing private investment opportunities, helping to bridge the gap between clients and alternative assets in a secure, scalable, and compliant manner.
While the wider private markets landscape has seen some turbulence—with several fintech competitors exiting or pivoting, Delio has stayed the course. Lewis described the current climate as entering a “second wave” of development, one that goes beyond product access and focuses instead on enabling infrastructure that can support long-term, personalised solutions.
“To me it feels like we’re now seeing a second wave of focus in the market, where attention is shifting to building the pipes, plumbing and rails that will allow firms to tailor and personalise their private markets offering… then grow it efficiently and compliantly at scale,” he said.
Over the past decade, Delio has helped to reshape how financial institutions manage private market investment workflows, addressing challenges around compliance, distribution, and client engagement through a configurable tech stack.
As it enters its second decade, Delio is positioning itself as a core infrastructure partner for firms seeking to scale their presence in the alternative investment space, with a continued focus on flexibility, neutrality and deep domain expertise.
