Tredegar-based David Spear Commercial Vehicles has renewed and strengthened its partnership with Dragons RFC, underlining the company’s continued commitment to Welsh professional rugby at a time of significant change within the sport.

The move comes shortly after the business announced an official kit partnership with Cardiff Rugby, positioning David Spear as one of the most prominent corporate supporters of Welsh regional rugby.

For more than a decade, the company has been a steadfast backer of the Dragons, one of Wales’s four professional regions, supporting the team both on and off the pitch. The partnership, built on shared values of teamwork, trust, and community, continues to play a key role in the region’s sporting and social development.

Geraint Yeo, Director at David Spear Commercial Vehicles, said the partnership reflects a deep-rooted belief in the positive impact sport can have across Welsh communities.

“Supporting Dragons RFC for over a decade has been a privilege. This partnership reflects our belief in the power of sport to unite communities and build lasting relationships across the region,” he said.

The company’s long-standing backing has become a cornerstone of the Dragons’ community work across Gwent.

Mike Sage, Dragons RFC Head of Community, praised the role David Spear plays in enabling outreach and youth development.

“David Spear has been an outstanding community partner for many years. The vehicles they provide are essential to delivering our programmes across Gwent, helping us inspire thousands of young people and families. Their support is first-class and deeply valued,” he said.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Filo Tiatia, the former New Zealand All Black and Ospreys icon, Dragons RFC is embarking on a new chapter of energy and ambition.

David Spear’s renewed deal runs through to the end of the 2026 season, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the Dragons and to the sustainability of professional rugby in Wales.

The strengthened partnership underscores how business support continues to play a vital role in sustaining and developing Welsh rugby, ensuring clubs remain embedded in their communities while inspiring the next generation of players and fans alike.
