Commercial law firm Darwin Gray has doubled the size of its Bangor office, marking the latest milestone in the firm’s expansion across Wales.

The move comes just a year after the firm doubled its head office in Cardiff and follows a period of sustained growth, with new services, fresh appointments, and multiple tender successes.

Two new team members have recently joined the Bangor office: solicitor Gwen Hughes, who has been appointed to the Property team, and legal assistant Lowri Evans. Their appointments strengthen the firm’s presence in the region and highlight its ambition to broaden client support across north Wales.

The expansion caps off a strong year for the firm, which in June won the Business Growth of the Year Award at the inaugural Legal News Wales awards. Darwin Gray has also secured reappointments to the Welsh Government Commercial Delivery Framework and the Welsh Language Commissioner’s legal framework, alongside other major contract wins.

Managing Partner Fflur Jones said: “We are delighted to continue expanding and investing in our north Wales home. With 30% of our staff being fluent Welsh speakers, we are proud to service businesses and organisations throughout the north Wales region, as well as the communities around them, in their preferred language.

We are proud to also be supporting a north Wales charity this year, Gafael Llaw, which helps support children and young people with cancer.”

With more than 12% of its workforce now based in Bangor, Darwin Gray is positioning itself as a pan-Wales firm. As part of its outreach, it is planning a series of north Wales events, including a mock disciplinary hearing and sector-specific roundtables.
