Conwy retains Gold Level Award for support offered to armed forces community

Conwy County Borough Council has once again been recognised for its outstanding support of the armed forces community, retaining its Gold Level Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

The ERS honours employers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the armed forces, going above and beyond the pledges made in the Armed Forces Covenant. The scheme includes three tiers—bronze, silver, and gold—reflecting varying levels of dedication.

Conwy first achieved the Gold Award in 2019. With the status requiring revalidation every five years, the Council’s continued commitment was officially recognised at a celebratory event at Venue Cymru on 28th April.

Cllr Liz Roberts, Conwy’s Armed Forces Champion, plays a leading role in supporting military personnel within the Council.

She said: “I’m delighted we’ve retained the Gold Level Award, this accomplishment highlights our collective efforts in creating an environment that supports and sustains armed forces personnel, veterans and their families and Cadet personnel.

“This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the armed forces community by advocating on their behalf, and implementing positive human resources policies that prioritise their integration into the workforce.

“We will, as a Council and our partners, continue to ensure that those who have served our country receive the support and opportunities they deserve.”

This recognition reinforces the Council’s position as a key advocate for the armed forces community in north Wales.
