Welsh chef Tom Simmons has unveiled plans to transform one of Cardiff’s most celebrated historic buildings into a high-end dining destination, partnering with 3D visualisation specialists 4Real Creative to showcase his vision for the landmark site.

Park House, the Grade I listed French Gothic-style property designed by Victorian architect William Burges for Lord Bute, has stood empty for 18 months following the closure of the Park House Restaurant & Wine Bar in 2023.

Once described as “perhaps the most important 19th-century house in Wales,” the building is now at the heart of ambitious redevelopment plans that blend heritage and modern hospitality.

Through a collaboration with Cardiff-based 4Real Creative, Simmons has commissioned photorealistic CGI renderings that bring his ideas for the venue to life.

The immersive visualisations will allow the council and the public to preview how the historic property could be reborn as a premier restaurant and events space.

“Park House is one of Cardiff’s most remarkable buildings,” said Simmons. “Working with 4Real Creative lets us explore its full potential and share a vision that celebrates its history while creating a modern, high-quality dining experience.”

The planned transformation will retain the character of the listed building while reimagining its interiors to deliver a contemporary, fine-dining atmosphere.

As part of the partnership, 4Real Creative will work alongside Simmons and his interior designer to showcase layout options, design features, and the overall ambience that future guests can expect.

“As a local company, we are incredibly proud to be chosen to help bring Tom Simmons’ vision for Park House to life,” said Mike Bolton, co-owner of 4Real Creative.

“Projects like this allow us to celebrate Cardiff’s rich heritage while applying cutting-edge visualisation techniques to showcase the building’s potential.”

The initiative is expected to generate excitement across Cardiff, re-establishing Park House as a cultural and culinary landmark.

If realised, the project will not only revive a celebrated building but also contribute to the city’s wider hospitality and tourism offering, positioning Cardiff as a hub for heritage-led regeneration and contemporary dining.
