Charles Church has secured planning permission for the second phase of its Glan y Coed development at Creigiau, on the outskirts of Cardiff.

The East Wales business will begin construction on 51 further homes at the site, next to Persimmon Homes’ The Parish development.

The latest phase includes measures designed to enhance local wildlife habitats, including provisions for dormice, reptiles, bats and birds. An attenuation basin will also form part of the drainage strategy and provide habitat for amphibians and invertebrates.

The approval allows the development’s spine road, which will include bus stops, to be extended. It will also continue the segregated cycleway and shared cyclist-pedestrian route through the public open space.

Persimmon and Charles Church are planning up to 1,250 homes across the wider Glan y Coed site, alongside a primary school, shops, offices and sports pitches.

The local centre will include commercial units and a new public square, with potential space for outdoor dining, markets and community use.

Persimmon is also progressing a planning application for Phase 5, which includes an equipped play area, restoration of the Cadoxton Line railway bridge and a viewing point.

Homes at Glan y Coed currently include four- and five-bedroom properties from £499,995, while three- and four-bedroom homes at The Parish are available from £365,000.

Lee Hawker, Managing Director of Charles Church East Wales, said: “We’re very pleased to have continued our track record of planning consent at Glan y Coed, demonstrating the quality of applications being brought forward by Charles Church and Persimmon Homes.

“Our properties at Glan y Coed provide a great opportunity for aspirational and larger households to move into a property that benefits from both a rural setting whilst being remaining close to Cardiff, the M4, and other amenities like nearby Talbot Green.

“We look forward to carrying on our good work on site and building on our relationship with Cardiff Council as we progress our future applications and build programmes here.”
