A new collaboration between Paris Saint-Germain Academy UK and Coleg Cambria is set to bring world-class football training to North Wales, as the two institutions team up to launch a PSG Academy programme at the college’s Deeside campus in September 2025.
Targeted at aspiring footballers aged 16 to 19, the initiative offers students the opportunity to train under PSG’s globally recognised coaching methodology while pursuing full-time academic studies at one of the UK’s top-performing further education colleges.
The programme promises a unique blend of elite athletic development and academic achievement, with students gaining access to UEFA-qualified coaches, cutting-edge facilities, competitive fixtures, and a range of qualifications including A Levels, BTECs and sports-related diplomas. It also offers clear progression routes into higher education and professional sport.
“This is the first and only PSG Academy partnership of its kind in North Wales,” said Lisa Radcliffe, Assistant Principal at Coleg Cambria. “It reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional education and training opportunities. Our goal is to support every student — regardless of background or ability — to succeed both in the classroom and on the pitch.”
Alex Harrap, Managing Director of PSG Academy UK, echoed the excitement around the project. “We’re proud to join forces with Coleg Cambria to offer a programme that not only raises the standard of football in the region but also empowers young people to grow in confidence, discipline and ambition,” he said. “This partnership will create real, life-changing opportunities.”
Students accepted into the programme will be based at the college’s Deeside campus, where they will train in a professional environment while balancing their academic commitments. Applications for the September 2025 intake are now open, with open days and trial sessions scheduled in the coming months. Interest is expected to be high, and prospective applicants are encouraged to register early.
