The Llantrisant-based business received the accreditation following an independent assessment carried out in association with the Institute of Road Transport Engineers’ (IRTE) Workshop Accreditation Scheme. The Platinum rating recognises excellence in engineering standards, workshop maintenance, safety, compliance and operational performance. Assessors evaluated the company’s workshop against a range of criteria, including staff competence, maintenance procedures, quality systems, facilities and adherence to the latest industry guidance contained within the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness 2026. The assessment highlighted Edwards Coaches’ technical expertise, consistent and fully documented maintenance processes, strong compliance with industry regulations, robust operational systems and its ongoing commitment to staff training and professional development. The accreditation provides assurance to customers and clientele that the company’s maintenance operations meet the highest recognised standards. Pasquale Balzano, Fleet Engineer at Edwards Coaches, said: “Achieving Platinum MPRS means a lot to all of us. It’s the top level in the scheme, and we’re proud to be the only PCV operator in Wales with it. It’s recognition for the team here in Llantrisant who work hard every day to get the details right. Safety is at the centre of everything we do, and this gives our customers extra confidence in our vehicles.” Want more from Businessin Wales? FinTech Wales and AI Wales partner to launch AI Hub FinTech Wales and AI Wales partner to launch AI Hub Daniel Bevan – Editor Image credit: FinTech Wales Subscribe to the Businessin Wales daily newsletter for FREE here.  FinTech Wales and AI Wales have formed a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence innovation across the Welsh financial technology sector, alongside the launch of a new national AI Hub. The collaboration is intended to strengthen Wales’ position as a destination for UK and international investment, particularly for companies operating at the intersection of AI and fintech. Central to the partnership is the creation of a free-to-join AI Hub, designed to support businesses in moving from initial interest in AI to practical implementation.  Open to organisations across all sectors, the Hub will provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and investment discussions, while also acting as a unified voice to help shape policy at both Welsh and UK levels. Sophia Wu, Head of Marketing at FinTech Wales, said: “I’m really excited about this partnership. AI is now embedded across all areas of technology, and this collaboration brings a clear focus to the connection between AI and fintech.  “Fintech is already a fast-moving sector, and the adoption of AI will only accelerate the pace of innovation even further. “I’m particularly looking forward to the opportunities this creates to bring the community together, connecting stakeholders, advancing the sector, and driving investment into meaningful, scalable solutions. “The goal of the partnership is to ensure Wales doesn’t just adopt AI, it builds and scales AI innovation from within, aligning fintech sector strengths with broader AI capability to attract inward investment and drive sustainable growth.” The initiative builds on established fintech and AI communities in Wales. FinTech Wales’s network includes major firms such as Starling Bank, Aviva, Go.Compare, Confused.com, Mastercard and Barclays, alongside high-growth companies including Cavefish AI, Menna and Peppercorn AI.  These will now be connected with AI Wales’ community of more than 2,200 practitioners, learners and industry leaders. Jaymie Thomas, founder of AI Wales, added: “For eight years, across our chapters in Cardiff, Swansea, and North Wales, we have built a community of 2,200 practitioners, learners, and enthusiasts.  “By partnering with FinTech Wales to launch the AI Hub, we are now providing a dedicated platform where any business in Wales can access this collective expertise via our AI Centre of Excellence.  “Through a series of workshops, talks, and training opportunities, the Hub will provide the technical and strategic clarity firms need for safe, practical AI implementation. “This initiative is designed to help Wales scale its AI ambitions, ensuring our businesses have the knowledge and network to succeed and lead in global innovation.” The Hub’s first programme will be a series of Pathfinder Workshops, offering in-person, sector-specific sessions focused on real-world challenges and the practical application of AI.  The inaugural workshop will explore AI use in call centre operations and will be delivered by Cardiff-based Cavefish, which develops machine intelligence tools to assess emotional risk and support decision-making. Jonathan Prescott, CEO of Cavefish, said: “Wales has a real opportunity to become an AI powerhouse if we bring together our talent, our businesses and our ambition.  “This partnership is about turning interest in AI into real action. “By connecting the fintech community with the growing AI ecosystem in Wales, we can help organisations experiment, learn and apply AI in practical ways that drive growth and attract investment into Wales.” Want more from Businessin Wales? Transport for Wales to improve crowd management ahead of six nations finale

Transport for Wales to improve crowd management ahead of six nations finale Transport for Wales to improve crowd management ahead of six nations finale max taylor – journalist Subscribe to the Businessin Wales daily newsletter for FREE here.  Transport for Wales (TfW) will trial a new post match crowd management approach for the upcoming Six Nations fixture aimed at improving the match day experience for fans and prepare for major works at Cardiff Central. Cardiff Queen Street will be the destination for fans using the Valley’s and Vale lines next weekend instead of the rear of Cardiff Central Station. This is due to this area being redeveloped as part of Transport for Wales’ enhancements project, which will make it unavailable on the matchday. This directs fans further away from the Principality stadium but will result in a more seamless transition in and out of the station, with shorter waits and faster boarding. This development sees stations in the Vale such as Cardiff Bay, Barry Island, Penarth, Bridgend and Valleys stations such as Bargoed, Caerphilly, Rhymney, Coryton, Ystrad Mynach, and more all sent to Queen Street. To ensure a faster transition through the station, fans are encouraged to use the contactless ‘tap on-tap off’ system through the barriers. Georgina Porter, Customer Delivery and Events Planning Manager for Transport for Wales said: “We’re preparing for the £140 million redevelopment of Cardiff Central station and looking at the best ways to get people home on event days “This event gives us the perfect opportunity to work with our customers to test a smarter, more targeted approach to moving large numbers of fans out of the city. “Keeping Cardiff Queen Street open for Valleys and Vale services allows us to ease pressure on Cardiff Central station, distribute passenger flow more effectively and get people home sooner. “These changes give us the opportunity to engage with our customers more effectively on the day, with teams on the ground making sure everyone gets to the right place. We’ll continue to adapt our plans based on what we learn from the trial.” Want more from Businessin Wales?
