Caron Group has expanded its footprint across Wales with the acquisition of three care homes from Priory Group, marking the latest phase in its strategy to grow regionally through targeted investment.

The sites, all purpose-built, include Parc Wern in Ammanford, The Beeches in Aberdare and St Mark’s Court in Swansea. Specialist adviser Montane Care brokered the transaction, while financial details remain undisclosed. The deal takes Caron Group’s total number of homes to 17, all located in south and mid-Wales.

The three newly acquired properties provide nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care. They offer a combined 142 bedrooms, with 59 at Parc Wern, 45 at The Beeches and 38 at St Mark’s Court.

Chairman Sanjiv Joshi said the additions will further strengthen the business’ position as a key regional operator. “We are delighted with the acquisition of St Mark’s Court, The Beeches and Parc Wern care homes and look forward to integrating these homes into Caron Group,” he said.

Founded in 2002 with its first two homes in Swansea, Caron Group has expanded steadily over more than two decades. The name Caron is linked to the Welsh word caru, meaning “to love,” reinforcing the company’s commitment to compassionate care.

Priory Group continues to streamline its portfolio of services for older people. Montane Care has completed several transactions on Priory’s behalf in recent months as part of this reshaping, including the sale of Cooper House in Bradford to Strong Life Care, and Abbey Court in Bourne, Lincolnshire, and Avondale in Motherwell to Maven Healthcare.

Montane Care director Anthony Rae said significant interest from buyers reflected confidence in the market for quality regional care home assets. “We are pleased to have successfully undertaken the sale of Parc Wern, The Beeches and St Mark’s Court to Caron Group, an experienced regional operator.

“The homes proved an attractive acquisition opportunity and it was a pleasure to receive multiple offers in a short period of time,” he said.

Montane Care forms part of the broader Montane group, headquartered in Buxton, Derbyshire, with offices in Chorley and Winsford. Led by co-founder and managing director Scott Murcott, the group also includes business finance and insurance brokerage divisions focused on the hospitality and healthcare sectors.
