Five new energy-efficient industrial units will be built at Beechwood Industrial Estate in Llandeilo as part of a £3m investment to support economic growth in Carmarthenshire.

The development is a joint project between Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Government and is designed to meet ‘Net Zero carbon in-operation’ standards. It forms part of the Welsh Government’s Property Delivery Plan and aligns with the council’s Ten Towns Initiative, which seeks to revitalise rural communities.

“Growing the economy is a priority for this Welsh Government. Businesses across Wales have made it clear that well connected, high-quality business spaces with sustainability at their core are crucial for expansion and job creation,” said Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning. “These modern new business units will help deliver sustainable employment opportunities, whilst delivering lower bills for businesses.”

The £3m investment covers the development of the 7,150 sq ft site, including infrastructure, landscaping and other associated works. Earlier engagement with the community had highlighted a shortage of high-quality employment space in the area.

Cllr Hazel Evans, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Carmarthenshire County Council, said: “Following engagement with the local community which identified a need for employment space in Llandeilo, these new units will support small and medium businesses by providing future-proofed employment space featuring solar panels and EV chargers. I look forward to seeing the project develop.”

Korbuild Limited, based in Pontypridd, has been appointed to design and build the new facilities.

“Korbuild Limited is committed to a high quality and timely delivery of the Beechwood Industrial Estate Business Units,” said Mark Cotter, Managing Director of Korbuild. “We look forward to the ongoing development of strong working relationships with all involved in this exciting new project.”

The business units are intended for use by local and regional firms and are expected to create sustainable employment opportunities while supporting Carmarthenshire’s broader economic development strategy.
