Cardiff dominates Wales’ coworking market as flexible workspaces reach 131 sites

New figures show Wales’ flexible and coworking market is firmly established and heavily centred on Cardiff.

According to the latest UK & Ireland Coworking Industry Report from CoworkingCafe, Wales had 131 coworking spaces as of the first quarter of 2026.

Cardiff accounts for 43 of those sites, making it the nation’s largest hub and the only Welsh city to rank among the UK’s top coworking markets.

Across Wales, the sector remains relatively fragmented, although Indycube leads the market with 20 locations nationwide.

Pricing across Wales shows a broadly accessible entry point for freelancers and small businesses, with median monthly memberships at £150, day passes at £21, virtual offices at £35 per month and meeting rooms at £25 per hour.

Cardiff, however, commands slightly higher rates in some categories.

Monthly memberships in the city average £197, above the UK median of £180, while day passes sit at £25, in line with the national benchmark.

Virtual office pricing, at £35 per month, is among the most competitive in the UK, while meeting room rates remain below average at £25 per hour compared with a £30 UK median.

Despite its smaller scale, Wales’ coworking footprint reflects wider trends across the UK and Ireland, where the total number of spaces has reached 4,550. Of these, 4,270 are located in the UK and 280 in Ireland.

Within the UK, England continues to dominate supply with 3,729 locations, followed by Scotland (311), Wales (131) and Northern Ireland (99).

Outside London, which remains the clear market leader with 1,209 spaces, the largest regional coworking hubs include Manchester (123 spaces), Glasgow (72), Birmingham (68), and both Bristol and Leeds with 64 each.
