Brains Brewery has raised £2,454.64 for Cardiff’s City Hospice after completing a gruelling indoor cycling challenge that saw participants ride the equivalent of the 870-mile Wales Coastal Path over five days.

The event, held from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th June, brought together Brains employees and supporters in a continuous relay effort, cycling day and night on static bikes to complete the iconic distance. The initiative was inspired by the hospice’s support for a much-loved Brains colleague currently receiving palliative care.

Nick Payne, CEO of Brains Brewery, praised the team’s commitment to the cause, saying: “It’s been truly inspiring to see our staff come together for such a meaningful cause. Everyone pushed themselves – physically and emotionally – to show support for Richard and for the vital work City Hospice does in our community. We’re incredibly proud to contribute in this way.”

The funds raised will go directly to City Hospice, a Cardiff-based charity providing specialist end-of-life care for individuals living with life-limiting conditions, including cancer, dementia, motor neurone disease (MND), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Nicky Piper MBE, Corporate Partnerships Manager at City Hospice, expressed gratitude for the support, saying: “We are so grateful to everyone at Brains Brewery and their friends for their phenomenal fundraising effort. Nearly £2,500 will make a real difference in helping us continue to deliver our specialist care across Cardiff. Their dedication – cycling 870 miles indoors in five days – is amazing.”

City Hospice plays a vital role in the Cardiff community, delivering not only clinical care but also emotional and practical support to patients and their families. Fundraising efforts like Brains Brewery’s cycling challenge are essential to sustaining its services.
