A newly established national organisation, Adnodd, is set to reshape the landscape of bilingual educational resources in Wales with the launch of an ambitious new strategy and a £5,000 Innovation and Collaboration Fund. Aimed at fostering deeper ties between education, the creative industries, and technology, Adnodd’s approach signals a new chapter in how classroom content is created, delivered, and adapted.

Unveiled during this week’s Urdd Eisteddfod, the strategy outlines a bold direction focused on innovation, equity, and collaboration — with an emphasis on delivering bilingual, inclusive, and culturally relevant resources that support the Curriculum for Wales.

At the heart of the initiative is Adnodd’s new fund, which invites educators, creatives, organisations, and freelancers from across Wales to apply for grants to develop ideas into innovative classroom resources. The funding window is open for four weeks and seeks projects that directly engage with the needs of both teachers and learners.

“Our strategy is built on listening,” said Emyr George, Chief Executive of Adnodd. “Teachers are telling us they’re constantly adapting resources to suit their learners, often under pressure and with limited time. This fund is our response — giving them the opportunity to co-create solutions with others across the creative and tech sectors.”

The fund is a key pillar in Adnodd’s strategic plan, which aligns with Welsh Government priorities such as the Well-being of Future Generations Act, Cymraeg 2050, and the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan. Every resource commissioned will aim to promote a more equitable, bilingual and inclusive education system — while encouraging creativity and innovation in how students engage with learning.

Adnodd’s work will be shaped by three central themes:

  • Literacy – supporting foundational skills to address declining literacy rates;
  • Equity & Anti-racism – ensuring representation and inclusion in every resource;
  • Well-being – promoting mental health and emotional resilience through content.

The strategy is also informed by extensive research with parents and education professionals across Wales, highlighting a clear appetite for resources that are more relevant, flexible, and reflective of learners’ diverse cultural and linguistic identities.

“With growing pressures on schools, this strategy is urgently needed,” George added. “It’s about tackling inequality, reducing workload, and designing high-quality, adaptable resources that spark imagination and life-long learning.”

Lynne Neagle MS, Cabinet Secretary for Education, welcomed the announcement, calling Adnodd’s strategy a “vital step forward” in resource development.

“Adnodd is leading the way in connecting education with culture and creativity. By supporting the Curriculum for Wales and prioritising equity and well-being, this approach equips learners and teachers with the tools and confidence they need to succeed in a changing world.”

With its strategy now live and funding available, Adnodd is inviting Wales’s creative and education sectors to collaborate on a shared vision — one that reimagines learning for the next generation and embeds innovation and inclusion at its core.
