Admiral Group, Wales’ only FTSE 100 company, and Save the Children UK have announced a three-year partnership that will support more than 17,500 children and families.

Low-income households are also disproportionately impacted by climate-related challenges such as flooding, rising energy costs and poor housing conditions.

As part of the initiative, families will receive direct financial support through grants for essentials including food, clothing, books and toys.

The partnership will also back wider efforts to improve community resilience and preparedness for environmental emergencies.

In Wales, the work will centre on two child-led programmes, Voice and Light and Seedlings of Change, designed to ensure young people play a central role in shaping solutions.

Voice and Light will work with families in Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Neath Port Talbot to better understand what support is needed during crises such as flooding.

The insights will be used to develop practical, child-friendly resources including animations, books and digital tools to help communities prepare for and recover from emergencies.

Meanwhile, Seedlings of Change will support children in designing and leading projects to improve access to green spaces, with a focus on creating safer environments for play and learning.

Alongside its UK work, Admiral Group will join Save the Children’s Humanitarian Network, a global alliance of corporate partners that mobilises resources and supports children before, during and after emergencies.

Moazzam Malik, Chief Executive of Save the Children UK, said: “Children are demanding a greener and more just future.

“We owe it to them to deliver that and take serious action on the climate crisis and growing inequality.

“Effective emergency response doesn’t start when a crisis hits; it starts with listening to children and families as they know what works best for their communities and providing them with the tools to prepare.

“We are delighted that Admiral Group has chosen to support both our global emergency fund through their membership of our Humanitarian Network and our critical work in the UK.

“We look forward to working together on our shared ambition to build a better climate for childhoods in Wales and around the world, and to influence local and national policy and practice so that children can reach their potential.”

Michelle Leavesley, Chief Sustainability Officer at Admiral Group, added: “Through our partnership with Save the Children, we’re proud to support work that strengthens resilience, responds to poverty and climate related challenges, and puts children’s voices at the heart of shaping safer futures.

“Working together in Wales and beyond, this partnership reflects how we’re continuing our journey to better, combining our experience in risk and resilience with Save the Children’s deep expertise to help communities feel more prepared and more supported so children can grow up safe and thrive.”
