Cardiff-based legal firm Acuity Law has partnered with international firm Purpose Law to launch a new joint venture aimed at driving sustainable energy investment and development across the UK, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

The new initiative, named Acuity Law with Purpose, positions both firms as legal and strategic advisors for the growing global green energy sector. It seeks to connect UK investors and developers with high-impact renewable energy projects overseas—and support international stakeholders accessing the UK market.

As governments and businesses increasingly prioritise the energy transition, the joint venture will offer end-to-end legal support across the lifecycle of energy infrastructure projects from early investment stages to full delivery. The venture will focus on solar, wind, hydrogen, battery storage, and other net-zero infrastructure projects.

“Acuity Law with Purpose brings clarity to complexity,” said Tessa Laws, CEO and founder of Purpose Law. “Using UK legal frameworks, we’re helping turn bold international ambitions into real-world renewable energy projects.”

The new venture aims to leverage Acuity Law’s track record in the energy sector—including its advisory role in the transformation of the former Uskmouth coal-fired power station in South Wales into a battery energy storage facility. That flagship project saw the firm advise on land use, grid access, permits, and investment structuring.

Already, the joint venture is engaged in discussions surrounding major energy infrastructure projects in Morocco, Egypt, and the Gulf region, as well as investor-led green schemes within Wales and England.

“With access to government, sovereign, and private capital, and a team of dual-qualified legal and policy experts, we aim to accelerate net-zero progress through legal innovation and commercial connectivity,” said Sean Chapman James, Senior Associate at Acuity Law.

Key objectives of the joint venture include:

  • Opening up high-growth renewable energy opportunities in emerging international markets to UK investors and developers.
  • Supporting foreign governments and investment funds in forming strategic partnerships with UK institutions.
  • Strengthening stakeholder confidence by embedding robust legal frameworks and demonstrating a proven international deal-making capability.

The announcement reflects growing market demand for cross-border legal solutions that align with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) imperatives and support infrastructure-scale clean energy delivery.

With Acuity Law with Purpose, both firms aim to become leading legal partners in the global clean energy transformation.
