Coleg Cambria is set to host a bilingual recruitment event aimed at attracting Welsh-speaking talent, as it looks to expand its workforce across teaching and support roles.
The event, Gyrfa Gymraeg @ Cambria, will take place on April 29 at the college’s Yale site in Wrexham, offering an informal opportunity for prospective applicants to explore career options and learn how Welsh language skills can be applied in the workplace.
A £400 welcome bonus is also available for eligible new starters.
Running from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, the drop-in session will include short presentations at 5pm and 6pm, alongside opportunities to speak with current staff.
Llinos Roberts, Director of Welsh Language Development at Coleg Cambria, said: “Developing a confident, bilingual workforce is central to our vision.
“This event is about connecting with Welsh-speaking communities and showing how valuable those language skills are in a professional setting.
“We’re committed to supporting staff at every stage of their Welsh language journey and creating more opportunities to use Welsh in the workplace.”
The college is seeking to recruit across a range of areas, including teaching, business support and industry-to-education transition roles.
It is particularly targeting professionals from sectors such as construction, engineering, healthcare and digital, offering pathways into teaching supported by PGCE qualifications completed while in post.
Attendees will be able to meet Welsh-speaking staff in an informal setting, with refreshments provided and no formal interviews required.
Jack Swift, HR Business Partner at Coleg Cambria, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to explore a career with us.
“Whether you’re already in education or coming from industry, this event is a chance to ask questions, make connections and see what a future here at the college would look like.”
